Project Shiksha
Project Shiksha is a technology based intervention that uses interactive content to address the problem of imparting education to young children in schools with severe teacher shortages and assist teachers in others.
Background
- The Shiv Nadar Foundation has launched ‘Shiksha’, an initiative designed to provide high quality educational content to government schools in rural UP.
Problem
- The initiative envisages the use of technology in providing an alternative to a trained teacher – as the shortage of trained teachers in UP is very acute.
- There is a shortage of over 100,000 trained primary teachers in UP alone and there is no oversight of those that do exist.
Solution
- ContentFlow brought in a new paradigm in teaching by using actors to represent teachers and provide a ‘live action’ teaching situation that allowed for an emotional connect with students beyond traditional static eLearning. A process of teaching –> Querying –> Augmentation is followed.
- ContentFlow was responsible for the creation of the entire interactive content ranging from mapping of the existing curriculum, creating the audio and visual elements, integration of the material into a cohesive course structure, and finally delivering the material in a shell usable by the school authorities.
